1980 Laverda Mirage

Oh dear what have we taken on this time, this once beautiful laverda mirage has stood outside for many years, or perhaps in a swamp ........

We fired it up before the stripdown and it actually has a very sweet motor and the bike is complete so its not all bad.

We will restore this bike to its former glory.

The bike is now totally stripped, i will take the frame to the blasters today as it is quite intricate and will be difficult to strip by hand which is my prefered method, while it is away i will get stuck in on that grubby motor.

Clean engine in refurbished frame

Front forks completely rebuilt with new seals etc and installed together with refurbushed swingarm.

Carb before and after, I hate cleaning carbs but the results
can be quite rewarding

Progress continues as the newly refurbished carbs are fitted as is the polished stainless steel mudguard and headlight brackets. New replacement rear shocks have also been fitted.

After a bit of grunting the mirage is now back on its newly refinished wheels, of course with new wheel bearings and spanking new bridgstones. I can really crack on now.

The downpipes and airbox have been fitted.

The handlebars, controls, rear light and a fully refurbished wiring loom have now been fitted.
The brakes and hydraulic clutch have been bled.

Back on the ground and waiting for the newly painted tinware.

And looking good in the daylight.

All Done!
